Ycademy Facebook Seminar
Following up on the work that we did in Facebook during the Ycademy Facebook Seminar I could not help but notice a very intriguing post by Yorgo Nestoridis, an invitation to come and join in in a bit of fun.
Ycademy Facebok Seminar Fun
Of course, like most people, I just love to have a bit fun so I accepted his invitation. While enjoying a bit of messing around this little snippet caught my eye so I just had to do something with it!

Enjoy!

Branding Yourself Online
Following upon on my previous posts about branding and branding your business online it is also important to brand yourself, taking control of your own name, your image and your reputation, and your authority, if you don’t others will do it for you and maybe even not too kindly.
Personal Branding
Personal branding is all about ‘YOU’, who you are and what you stand for, and how you want others to see you, your personal identity. First impressions are still so important. This impression online is created by what you write about, how you write it and how you present yourself visually via a personal blog, website or these days on any of the interactive social media sites like Facebook. Today online its about transparency, being visible, openness and accountability.
Developing your personal brand, your personal style comes with time but the ‘basic elements’ of who you are remain the same. Developing ‘YOU’ comes from a lot of soul searching and from digging deep in your own ‘Secret Garden’, which is certainly not an over night affair.
Your Personal Brand
Your Personal Brand is all about communication, letting others communicate with you, creating trust and empathy. Every visual aspect of you, your business, your personal information portrays you. Always be true to you!
“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” Judy Garland
Personal Blog
To have a Personal blog or website is a real ‘MUST HAVE’, in order to be in total control of your name, your image and what you stand for. A place where you can portray yourself in who you are and what you do, your like and dislikes, building your authority. A complete package that can be identified as you in your writing, your style and your images.
AND….. it is all very much tied up in the wrapping, the presentation. It all counts. Your site communicates, builds empathy, builds relationships. Blogs are very much an asset these days as they increase your visibility ranking higher on search engines.
You may not be the worlds best but demonstrating your authenticity, integrity, honesty goes a long way to creating a positive image online.

Facebook Profile Picture Hack
Customize your Facebook Profile image with a few simple ideas. To set you apart from the crowd you may want to play with the profile picture to start with.
Facebook Profile Picture
The Facebook Profile picture can be as large as 200×600 pixels. Also the profile picture is positioned 52 pixels north of the gray line.
Profile Picture Position
The above values allow you to blend in to the Facebook template. You could start your image background with a gradient starting from Lightblue #EFF0F5 to let your image emerge from the Facebook template.
In the above case I have selected a contrasting background.
To profit from the maximum space available, just create a 200 x 600 pixel picture and load it as your new profile picture.

Attention: Fake Facebook Mails
Like banks, Paypal, Twitter and others, Facebook is increasingly subject to phishing scams. How to recognize Phishing and Fake Mails?
Phishing for Facebook
The first goal of the scam is to obtain your login credentials to your Facebook account. Here is the mail I have just received:
Facebook Phishing Mail
1. The sender email address looks suspicious.
2. The receiving address is not an email address registered with Facebook, in fact this address does not exist but comes through based on the catch-all function of the mail box.
3. The Subject line is not capitalized – suspicious.
4. if you pass your mouse over (don’t click!) the update button or over the
5. … “click here” link, you see at the bottom of your frame the actual…
6. …target address. The address is not a facebook address, but some scam sub-domain of a .co.uk domain.
How to deal with Phishing Mails
Turn on phishing filters in your system and security software.
Never click on any link in a suspicious mail! Block sender and delete the mail.
You may report the issue to Facebook providing full headers and eventual source code of the mail.
What this Phishing Scam does
If you follow the link in the mail, you are directed to a fake Facebook Login screen with your email address allready filled in. The password field is blank. If you fill in the password, the cyber criminals get full access to your facebook account.
But there is worse:
Zeus Banking Trojan
A pop-up appears inviting you to download an “update tool” which actually installs “ZeuS banking Trojan”. This Trojan waits to steal your banking data next time you type them in.
Check out the Facebook security page for further info.

Facebook or not to facebook
If you are a Twitter or Facebook fan its time to watch your step. It’s more than just fun online, its also about …..Bugs!
The more doors we open the more we are open to these nuisances. It’s time to learn to read the small print and ‘Caveat Emptor’ – Let the buyer beware, in this case user beware!
Watch the tweets!
Twitter and Facebook
Just as Yorgo wrote in his post regarding fake facebook phishing mails there is also a Twitter bug which sends out ’feel good’ direct messages. If only the owners of such bugs would put their energies into creating something useful to society we would applaud them all.

Build your Social Network Publishing Network
Social Network Publishing is task which aims to reach out for users of social networks by making valuable content available in social networks. In other terms, we aim to become visible on the search results inside Social Networks.
Social Networks vs. Google
In general as a web publisher we make our content available to the public and hence to search engines, such as Google. Google does not reflect however the content produced inside Social Networks. Social Networks run their own internal search engines paired with particular sets of filters, such as geo-targeting, age groups, language and more. To become visible on search results within Social Networks, content must be published and made available inside the social networks… at least that’s what most people may think.
We will show you here below that this is not the absolute truth of the story.
Google Top 10 and Facebook
During the past 12 months Facebook has opened it’s closed house to many ‘external sources’ one of them being external search engines; MySpace has had a web search function much earlier.
External Web search can now be found in Facebook and it is interesting to compare search results.
In Facebook we find Bing powered Search results (of course, since Microsoft has invested over $200 million in Facebook):

Interestingly the results with direct Bing search are not exactly the same:

A comparison with Yahoo and Google reviels further differences:

All the above search results seem to be extremely hooked to the domain name, more in any case than the Google Top 10 returns:
Google Top 10 for Yorgo Nestoridis
Google seems to be more sensitive to aggregation and backlinks.
Facebook’s internal Search Engine
The internal Facebook Search Engine returns results just from inside Facebook; interesting to get in control of those results as well …

The impact of an own account to control your name returns is evident.
From the above we can draw a certain number of conclusions we will discuss at Tuesday’s Ycademy call.
Building and implementing a Social Network Publishing Strategy is not an easy but an interesting task. At Ycademy we work with you to get around technical difficulties to achieve extraordinary results.

Automated Twitter Management
Going with the flow, following up on my earlier post about Twitter set up, I have been building my personal list and building my Twitter network of followers. Being new to Twitter I have been reading up and listening to trainings how to best achieve results with this social media tool. Of course the side of the coin is that you can also make money with Twitter.
Twitter Lead generation
The purpose of joining this program is to build a network of interested people who qualify for what I have to offer. Its about people and relationships. Targeted lead generation. For the purpose of lead generation I am using Twy2 for viral marketing online. Totally free to use and set up and to build your list.
Twitter Management
Any marketers knows that a lot of time is spent daily on tasks, advertising and marketing. Any tool that allows me to automate these chores gets my vote. I have just discovered such a tool to automate all my Twitter tasks. Not only building my twitter network but also sending out my tweets, advertising and marketing my business. Set it up, and leave it run.
Its just one of the better twitter tools around, a professional marketing software that manages all the various functions in one place. Getting more followers in Twitter made simple. There is of course a video tutorial that accompanies this marketing tool that explains each function clearly.
The demo is free and you can build a basic list of followers while you test the features. It really is worth testing the demo at least.
Make Money with Twitter
Just a little bonus, there is also an affiliate program attached to marketing this tool, with which you can make 50% on your first level. Sign up as an affiliate and you have an added income stream that just runs in the background and will take care of itself.

My Twitter Explodes with over 140 new followers per day!
From 188 Followers to 1529 Followers in 9 days – my Twitter is exploding. Your question may be:
How can I add 1338 new Followers in 9 days?
I am basically using 2 tools:
Twy2 and my preferred Twitter Management and follow-up program.
Twy2 Viral Twitter Marketing
Twy2 is a free viral device for list building and lead generation. I have hooked it to Free YORGOO to do the job for me. As you know, I am an automation fan.
Grab it HERE
Automated Twitter Management
Now here we go crazy: there is nothing like this device which lets you manage multiple Twitter Accounts from your desktop. It does your keyword search, follows people along the keywords you define, or it follows people from a geographic area you define, it un-follows people for you and it tweets for you.
Auto-tweeting is a Sunday walk!
Grab your free Twitter Manager from HERE
Next Follower Tsunami
The next step will be to hook Twy2 and the Twitter Manager together. I will report back and tell you how shortly. You will see how your Twitter Tsunamy will even make money for you while building your Twitter.
