The last day in August turns out to be a glorious summers day which is a rare occurence this summer here in Essex where I live. If you saw my earlier posts about the local Airshow you will notice that the weather nearly let us down. However, today was wonderful with long spells of warm sunshine so much needed after so many dreary days. The garden was the best place to be today. What caught my eye glistening in the sunshine was a big spiders web just by the door. Down came the spider from his hiding hole to catch an unwary little fly. Having watched this for a short while I decided it was an opportunity not to be missed and got the camera out. What was really intriguing was that I was watching the spider from underneath, and not looking down on his back.
Garden Spider
Well I think its a garden spider, if anyone would like to correct me on this one please do. By the time the camera was in place this little spider had consumed his prey and looked like it was wrapping it up and then sort of pushed it out in a little ball. I am no nature freak but this episode was absolutely fascinating. Here is the photo I shot of this spider with my Nikon Coolpix. With the sun shining directly on the web the little ball here looks like a blue gemstone.

The flying program at the Clacton Airshow 2010 included the famous RAF aerobatic team, the Red Arrows. There is nothing quite so breathtaking as watching this display team whiz through the skies and perform their aerobatics.

The Claton Airshow still manged to attract loads of visitor this year despite the weather, although the numbers were slightly down on previous years. Each year the show attracts not only the aircraft hobbyists but also families with children. As the airshow is a free event it makes a great day out for all family, there’s always something for everyone. Airshow, sand, sea and funfair!
A chance for the young to see a model of a Spitfire close up.

The Clacton Airshow 2010 attracts again loads of spectators and hobby as well as professional photographers. Taking a picture is one thing, getting it to the top of Google is yet another story.
Zo Nicholas has beaten them all with the publication of her images, using a Semiomantics XO Publishing Framework.
Zo comes in right after the BBC and ahead of YORGOO on Google rank 2. Note at the bottom Ycademy.com on rank 10!
YORGOO Publishing Network on Google Top 10
Zo Nicholas site is hooked to the YORGOO Publishing Network and she contributes to various publications. The effect is evident: the publishing power of the network assures rapid deployment and high visibility of content.
As you saw above, 3 top 10 entries in just a few hours. However the deployment was not over at this stage.
When I looked at the issue early this morning, the face had changed:
A second wave shows still 3 top 10 positions with Garden Route Publishing on the number 2 spot (Garden Route Publishing has just been upgraded to the brand new Semiomantics XO Media Framework which will be released later this year).
Surprise, surprise, there comes a good old YORGOO Blaster in as well on rank 2! and finally Ycademy, this time on rank 9.
Just an hour later, this is what I get right now:
Zo Nicholas on rank 5 and YORGOO Publishing on rank 10; and I am sure it will change again during the day as the deployment is not finished yet. Also I would expect this post to become visible soon, as well as another post I loaded the Destinations Expo :-).

First day of the Clacton Airshow 2010 provided a great opportunity to take out the digital camera to shoot some pictures of the days proceedings. Here are a couple of pictures taken of the Red Arrows aerobatics display on day one of the airshow.
and….
Notice the heavy cloud and murky sea, not really the weather you expect in August.
All pictures were taken with a point and shoot digital camera, a Canon Powershot A560.
Clacton Airshow Day 2
Maybe just a slight improvement on the weather conditions for day 2 of the Clacton Airshow with some bright patches and a little bit of blue sky but not for long. The crowds again have gathered to watch the Red Arrows display at 12.30 today and the fly past.

Althougth the rest of East Anglia suffered some torrential downpours, down here around the coast of Clacton the weather remained relatively good enough for the Claton Airshow 2010 to go ahead. The weather was by now means the best, but at least good enough for the gathered crowds to enjoy the flying displays.
Here is a short video on Youtube, a small part of the Red Arrows display showing off their aerobatic skills.
Preparation is key to results and success; in this sense I have prepared for tonight’s important Ycademy Seminar Precall as laid out HERE.
If you click on the picture here – or on GALLERY HERE – you will see a slideshow consisting of a few pictures I selected under different testing aspects.
Photo Media Stock Preparation
As requested for calibration purposes of our Lightroom Pro we have to determine the weaknesses of our individual cameras… be it in the color, tone, contrast, sharpness for example …
I added a couple of pictures as follows:
~ Daylight inside, no flash
~ Daylight outside
~ Daylight outside in the shadow
~ Low light – before sunrise, at sunset, after sunset
~ Stills where I used a Flash inside.
I am looking forward to finding those little common denominators that would improve the quality of each picture automatically as we pull them into Lightroom.
Stock Photography
For Photo Media Stock we need sharp, well focused and attractive photos that buyers then turn into works of art or integrate parts of them according to their priorities, for instance in Advertising. That’s what they pay for.
It’s really important to differentiate clearly between these two caps: am I the seller or the buyer?
I am aware that as creative people and web designers we have to switch between both. This, however, is only possible if we understand and master the basic techniques – and that’s why tonight’s Training Call and the upcoming Ycademy Seminar are so critically important for all those with a passion for Digital Photography and a willingness to enter the competitive field of Stock Photography – even without being professional photographers.
Not easy to take pictures in the busy streets of Ermoupoli. The great atmosphere and the pulsing life in Ermoupoli, the main town of Syros and at the same time the main town of all Cycladic Islands give you the impression of being far, far of from the stressed day to day life.
Today is the day of the actual Clacton Airshow, a 2 day annual event that takes place along the beach and greensward in Clacton, with a full air display taking place over the sea during the afternoon . An event that in 2009 drew over 100,000 visitors. This year is the 19th year of the show. Each year there is a full flying program of wing walkers, Battle of Britain planes and others and the biggest draw, a display by the aerobatics team of the Royal Aiforce the Red Arrows.
Clacton Airshow 2010
The weather here in August has not been very kind to all the holiday makers and today is no exception. With heavy clouds, wind and the constant threat of rain does not bode well for the air display this afternoon. We are all keeping our fingers tighly crossed and hoping for just a little break in the clouds with perhaps a little sun to brighten up the day.

I tell you, it’s not worth talking about the match if not about the convincing performance of the US Selection for the Basketball World Championship which starts this week-end in Turkey.
The best Greece had to offer
In order not to be negative about the Greek performance … here below the highlights of the Greek performance ..:-). I hope the Greek team will show some real Basketball in Turkey!
